GS Biomats Wins 200 Million Yuan A+ Round of Financing, Accelerates Construction of 10,000-ton Production Capacity

    Zhongke Guosheng (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as GS Biomats) has recently successfully completed 200 million yuan A+ round of financing. This round of financing was led by CITIC Goldstone and Puhua Capital, followed by Yunhui Capital and Hangzhou Capital, and continued by old shareholders Legend Capital, Wuyuan Capital, and Yuhang Guotou. Funds from this round of financing will be focused on the construction of 10,000-ton capacity in Taixing, Jiangsu Province to accelerate capacity expansion to further reduce costs.

    In recent years, domestic and foreign policy support for bio-based materials has increased significantly, policy guidance and financial support to accelerate the technological breakthroughs in this field and industrialization process. Bio-based materials have been realized in packaging, textile, medical and other areas of application, showing great market potential. Among them, furan biobased material 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) has become an important platform compound in the field of biobased materials by virtue of its high performance, recyclability, renewability and multifunctionality.


    With strong R&D production capacity and commercialization capability, GS Biomats has taken the lead in achieving a hundred-ton supply of FDCA, a furan bio-based material, on a global scale. With the continuous reduction of product cost and continuous improvement of quality, the commercialization of FDCA is on an accelerated trend.

    01 Breakthrough original technology to solve key problems and accelerate the stepwise cost reduction of furan bio-based materials


    As an important bio-based platform compound, FDCA can be benchmarked against petroleum-based benzene ring feedstocks due to its unique furan ring structure and shows great potential in enhancing material properties. However, high production costs have long constrained its commercialization.


    The dual-continuum process and short-flow production scheme independently developed by GS Biomats has realized the full process cost reduction of FDCA from the technical end. With the continuous expansion of the production scale, the cost of FDCA is expected to further drop significantly. This technological breakthrough is attributed to the profound accumulation and unique knowledge of the team of GS Biomats in the fields of catalyst and chemical production, as well as its bold innovation that dares to break the inherent thinking of the industry. At present, GS Biomats is at the forefront of FDCA mass production cost control in the world.

    High-purity quality FDCA


    02 Combination of production and research to improve product quality, and grasp the market demand to create the road to commercialization.


    In order to meet the higher requirements of downstream customers for product quality, GS Biomats successfully launched high-purity FDCA products in 2024 and completed the delivery of tonnage orders from overseas head polyester enterprises. The further optimization of high-purity FDCA in terms of color, purity and trace element control has received positive feedback from global customers and significantly improved the introduction speed of the downstream customer base.


    GS Biomats's flexible R&D and production system that responds quickly to market demand is an important guarantee for expanding into new markets. The market demand-oriented R&D model, coupled with a flexible management system that integrates research, production and marketing, has significantly shortened the cycle of furan bio-based materials from laboratory development to commercialization.
