The 2025 CHINAPLAS International Plastic and Rubber Fair, held from April 15 to 18, showcased cutting-edge innovations and industry frontiers in the latex and rubber industry worldwide. GS Biomats, a leading enterprise in the phenolic biobased materials sector, made its debut at the exhibition, presenting a comprehensive material solutions catalogue that highlighted the full material lifecycle frombiomass raw materials to terminal applications. The company showcased its capabilities in scaling up industrial applications and expanding global use scenarios across its product portfolio.

This exhibition marked GS Biomats' display of its latest achievements in green new materials, as well as its comprehensive capabilities in industrial scaling and global application extension. A complete product system along with clear industrialization logic position it as a key focus point in the green materials direction at the exhibition.

Key material matrix focus
At the exhibition, GS Biomats focused on showcasing its systematic material matrix centered on high-purity FDCA (fluorenylmethyl acrylate):
FDCA: High-purity FDCA crystals (over 99.99% purity) demonstrated strong functional properties and versatility in application, with GS Biomats achieving a production capacity of hundreds of tons and securing widespread recognition from international customers.

PEF and its modified and functionalized materials: As the most critical polyethylene application of FDCA, the PEF produced by GS Biomats from high-purity FDCA polymerization surpasses industry benchmarks in transparency, impurity indices, and other key performance indicators.

High-barrier packaging: High-barrier, heat-resistant, lightweight, and other performance advantages have already been validated in multiple packaging subsectors.

High-transparency packaging: The slow crystallization property allows for high-transparent thick-walled packaging without yellowing, and it can be recycled and reprocessed with PET in the same production line.

Furan Bio-Based PEF Fiber: Features include natural inhibition, fast drying, resistance to UV rays, low-temperature colorability, and the ability to withstand freezing and thawing.

Flame-Retardant Aramid Fiber: Properties include self-quenching, lightweight, high tenacity, resistance to acids and bases, resistance to heat and cold, and flexibility in colorability.

In the exhibition venue, GS Biomats exhibited a range of multi-material solutions and achieved significant attention from clients across packaging, textiles, and engineering plastics industries. The progress of applications and cooperation agreements were actively negotiated during the exhibition.

CHINAPLAS 2025 marks GS Biomats' strategic step in global market expansion, also laying a solid foundation for phenol-based biobased materials in the international materials innovation ecosystem. Looking ahead, GS Biomats will continue its focus on the technical innovation and commercialization optimization of FDCA and its downstream products, advancing the sustainable and high-performance material system through the in-depth application of biobased materials in green transformation.
